Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great success with the tales she recounts about her early heartbreak. Swift developed an interest for musical instruments as a young person and soon progressed from performing in children's shows to making her debut in public. At the age of 11, she performed The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game and in the next year, she began playing guitar and began writing songs. Swift was a singer who took influences from the music of Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm of music from the country genre, wrote the songs of her own to convey her experience with alienation. Swift's family moved into Tennessee from Pennsylvania when she was 13so she could be able to spend more time exploring popular country music labels in Nashville.
